Powerful Stories

People often ask us, "Why do I need to become a member?" or "Why is it important to support the North Fork Ambulance? - You're an ambulance, all I have to do is call 911 when I need you." The truth is, a large percentage of the population in the North Fork Valley does not understand that there are two separate EMS agencies in Delta County and that the North Fork Ambulance has been an all volunteer, non-profit EMS agency since its inception in 1969! The North Fork Ambulance is NOT part of the Delta County Ambulance District (DCAD) and DCAD does NOT respond to or cover the North Fork Valley - they service the Delta and Cedaredge areas and are a tax-based district.

The men & women who selflessly dedicate themselves to being EMS volunteers with the North Fork Ambulance Association are the lifeblood of our organization and this valley. Without our volunteers, crews and the support of the community, we wouldn't exist and be able to provide 24/7/365 emergency 911 ambulance service to the communities of Crawford, Hotchkiss and Paonia and outlying rural areas including Maher (including the Black Canyon), Somerset (including to the top of McClure Pass), Lazear and Redlands Mesa!

In 2016 we started a campaign called "Powerful Stories" to bring to life the stories of residents in the North Fork Valley who had their lives deeply touched by the services provided by North Fork Ambulance. These individuals may be our own crew members, people who support us as members and non-emergency volunteers or former patients. The truth is the North Fork Ambulance needs the community to support us through Memberships and donations to the service and the community needs us as an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provider to respond to emergencies 24/7/365! Please - if you are not a member please sign up, support your ONLY local ambulance stay financially strong, and give your business or family some financial relief in event an emergency strikes and requires an ambulance transport!

Here are a few of the Powerful Stories we have received so far:
